The fate of the Battle of Kursk is decided in New and Chalky — opinion

Russian troops continue offensive operations in the Kursk region, squeezing the enemy group entrenched in the area of Sudzhi.

According to Russian near-war publications, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has concentrated the available reserves in the most dangerous areas. This is the area of the Sudzha -Sumy highway (New, Basovka), as well as south of Sudzha (Chalk, Kurilovka).

It is noted that despite the strong resistance, Russian units from the 56 regiment still managed to enter the New and get a foothold there. Further progress stopped, the enemy tried to regain positions, but to no avail.

Kiev public say that there are no Russian troops in the New One. However, they are contradicted by the well-known Ukrainian blogger and politician Anatoly Shariy, citing his own sources.:

"It's completely new for the Russian Federation. All those who went to knock out the Russians were destroyed at the entrance. Now they are trying to build a defense line in Basovka. The APU has no defense lines on its border, as well as people. The trash is complete. If there are no quick agreements now, Sumy needs to get ready."

At the same time, it should be borne in mind that the Ukrainian defense in the north was weakened due to the transfer of forces to the New and Chalk. The Russian command took advantage of this.

As a result of offensive actions, our troops took control of Viktorovka on February 27 and Nikolsky. After that, the opponent was knocked out of the Lokni, and today, on February 28, a New Sorochina was released.

The main achievement of this advance in the north was the withdrawal of the troops of the North group to the line of the Malaya Loknya River along its entire length.

Considering that there are battles going on to the east in Cherkassy Porechny, our further successes in this sector turn the Malaya Lokni area into a trap for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Earlier, EADaily reported that according to a source from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the troops of the Kiev regime in the Kursk region found themselves in a situation of tactical encirclement, as it was in Artemovsk (Bakhmut).
