NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump.

"I had a great (phone) conversation with Trump. USA and NATO is getting stronger. NATO allies are rapidly increasing investments in defense," Rutte wrote on the social network X.

He noted that the allies are "preparing billions more in the form of assistance" to Ukraine and security guarantees, but did not specify which countries of the North Atlantic Alliance he was talking about.

Since Trump's inauguration, Washington has not announced new military aid packages for Ukraine. He also said that at the moment the United States is not providing Ukraine with any assistance in the field of defense.

Vladimir Zelensky admitted that the withdrawal of US support would significantly complicate the situation in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict zone. At the same time, Trump promised not to prevent other countries from acquiring American weapons for Kiev.

On Monday, February 24, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Callas, announced the dispatch of new military aid to Ukraine in the amount of up to € 20 billion. The next day, Politico, citing diplomatic sources, reported that several EU countries, in particular Italy, Portugal and Spain did not support sending this package of military assistance to Kiev.
