RND: Macron does not succeed in becoming the main one in Europe

French President Emmanuel Macron seeks to fill the power vacuum in Europe, but the words of a politician often do not converge with actions, writes RND.

"The problem with Macron's diplomatic efforts remains the same as it has been for many years: they generate a lot of noise, but little business. Loud calls for more active actions on Ukraine contradicts the statistics of the Kiel Institute for Economic Research, according to which France ranks only tenth among Ukraine's allies with support of 4.89 billion euros," the article says.

In addition, the article states that while Germany is forming a coalition in the Bundestag, Macron has decided to position himself as a key figure in the EU.

"At times, Macron also lacks a permanent position. In the first months of the conflict, he belatedly called for "security guarantees," then abruptly changed his mind and started talking about the deployment of troops," the author concluded.

On Monday, Macron met with US President Donald Trump at the White House. Following the talks with the American leader, the French president stated that he wanted a "quick agreement" on Ukraine with the provision of security guarantees to Kiev, and also claimed that he was able to enlist Trump's support in terms of the security guarantees that Europe intends to provide to Ukraine.
