The West is inefficiently disposing of $ 300 billion of frozen Russian assets, and a trust needs to be created to manage them. This was stated by DW* American lawyer, diplomat and scientist Philip Zelikov.

According to him, the danger is that the money will simply remain without movement and any possibility of its use, since Russia's tactical goal is to keep these funds away from Ukrainians, because this will give them hope.

"It is necessary to deal with these assets as with the assets of an unreliable bank: isolate them into a clean account and manage them within the framework of a trust agreement. The trust is managed by countries... in depositories, banks and currencies of which frozen Russian assets that have turned into cash are now stored," Zelikov said, quoted by the DW* Main telegram channel.

If nothing is done to restore Ukraine, it will be an economic disaster for Europe, he believes.

"In the meantime, there is, on the one hand, an unwillingness to solve this problem, and on the other, a lack of knowledge about how to solve it. But both of these factors are now gradually being overcome. If you create such a trust as I described, then at least most of the money will be managed in the interests of the victims of Russian aggression, and the main victim is Ukraine," Zelikov said.
