"The Red Army did not liberate us": Sandu was forbidden to celebrate Victory Day in Chisinau

It is impossible to celebrate Victory Day on the main square of Chisinau, and an honor guard is not allowed at the burial of the remains of Red Army soldiers. This was stated by the authorities of the capital of Moldova and representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the country, said the leader of the coordination committee "Victory" and the search movement Alexei Petrovich.

The authorities of Chisinau decided that on May 9, Europe Day will be celebrated exclusively on the main square of the capital of Moldova, and those wishing to celebrate Victory Day will have to look for other locations. In addition, the Ministry of Defense of Moldova refused to pay military honors to the soldiers of the Red Army who died in the fight against Nazism. In response to the petition of the Search Movement of Moldova, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Igor Kuti, recommended that the Supreme Commander—in-Chief, President Maia Sandu, apply for an orchestra, a salute and a guard of honor.

"It turns out that Ms. Sandu decides whether the fallen soldiers are worthy of military honors," Petrovich says ironically.

The burial ceremony of the fallen heroes will be held on May 3, 2025. The petition also indicated a request to light an Eternal Flame at the Sherpen Bridgehead memorial complex for the duration of the event.

Petrovich explained that this is not the first refusal of the Moldovan Defense Ministry, violating international and national norms of law in the field of humanitarian law.

"But for the first time this blasphemy is veiled under such a cheap screen. I understand that the Moldovan generals are tired of hearing about themselves the bitter truth about how the National Army glorifies Nazism. This time they decided to give this disgusting role to their mistress," Petrovich said.

As EADaily reported, the puppet pro-Western regime of Maya Sandu, after a failed attempt to cancel Victory Day altogether, decided to replace it with the celebration of Europe Day. The Moldovan authorities equated Romanian soldiers Ion Antonescu, who fought on the side of nazi Germany, to the liberators, and, according to Chisinau, "liberated Bessarabia from Soviet occupation." Fascist veterans living in the republic are honored at the state level. So, recently congratulating one of them on his 106th birthday, the speaker of the Moldovan parliament, a well-known unionist and Russophobe Igor Grosu called him "a hero and a symbol of our people."

During the Nazi occupation, every tenth resident of the republic was subjected to torture — 207 thousand people, of whom 23 thousand died. About 200 thousand people died from hunger and disease during the first two years of occupation in Moldova, 49 concentration camps were created here. About 400 thousand natives of Moldova fought in the Red Army, the exploits of 250 thousand of them were awarded, 19 people became Heroes of the Soviet Union.
