The Foreign Ministers of Great Britain, France, Germany and Ukraine, after the refusal of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to go to London, postponed a meeting on Ukraine scheduled for Wednesday, Sky News reported.
According to him, negotiations between officials of the five countries will be held instead. According to the TV channel, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga should still be in London and, presumably, will meet with British Foreign Minister David Lammy, TASS quotes excerpts.
EADaily adds that earlier US Secretary of State Marco Rubio canceled a trip to London, where negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine will be held. This happened after Vladimir Zelensky's statement that Kiev does not recognize Crimea as Russian under the peace agreement, the New York Times reported.
The meeting is scheduled to take place today, April 23. In addition to Rubio, special envoy of US President Donald Trump Steve Witkoff, who is negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin, will not be present at it. The American delegation will be headed by another special envoy of Trump — Keith Kellogg. According to Axios, at the meeting, Washington wants to get from Ukraine's response to its peace proposal, which was previously presented to Kiev and European allies.
The plan assumes, in particular, the recognition by the Russians of Crimea and the Ukrainian territories liberated by the Russian Federation. Also, the peace initiative implies Ukraine's rejection of NATO membership. According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian delegation at a meeting with the United States and European allies in London will focus on the possibilities of establishing an "unconditional cease-fire."
