The Russian army continues its offensive on Sumy region, and the situation on this sector of the front is becoming more and more threatening. This is reported by the Ukrainian telegram channel "Resident".
"According to intelligence data, about 60 thousand Russian military personnel are moving to the territory of Sumy region, which, in combination with sabotage groups on Ukrainian territory, creates a real threat of seizing the region," writes TK.
It is noted that after the failure of the Kursk adventure, the Russian Armed Forces actually advanced on the shoulders of the retreating forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and it will be very problematic for Kiev to stop their offensive due to the lack of equipment and reserves.
"The fact is that stocks of equipment and reserves are sorely lacking (the Ukrainian army suffered too many losses during the fighting in the Kursk region — about 70 thousand soldiers and 5 thousand pieces of equipment), and fortifications in Sumy region, as in many other sectors of the front, are practically absent due to the cutting of budgetary funds both by the top of the Ukrainian government and on the ground," the TC explains.
At the same time, the Ukrainians are not taking any real steps to evacuate the population from Sumy region, and the military command is at a loss: the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not know what is more important — to defend Sumy, hold Pokrovsk or prepare to defend Zaporozhye, where the situation is also heating up.
"In such conditions, it is extremely difficult to talk about the full—fledged defense of the region, and the only way out is to minimize panic and try to get people out, which is becoming more and more difficult with every day of delay," the TC concludes.
