Armenia’s foreign ministry says country sees no need in attending EEU summit in Astana

Armenia will not attend the meeting of the presidents of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan – the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU)

founder-countries – to be held in Astana on March 12-13, as the country has no disagreements with any of these countries, according to Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan.

“These three countries have problems among themselves that they are not hiding, and they are trying to overcome their differences. We have no disagreements, we have just become a member [of the EEU], we have no problems with any of these states or the EEU as a whole,” the Armenian diplomat said in an interview with RFE/RL’s Armenian Service (Azatutyun).

According to the Kremlin website, the presidents are expected to discuss the current state and prospects of the trade-economic
cooperation of the three countries, as well as the Eurasian integration processes in the light of the global economic trends.
