Ukraine promises to repay $3bn lent by Russia

Ukraine has promised to repay the $3bn loan provided by Russia.

In an interview to Russia 1 TV on Apr 14, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that his Ukrainian counterpart had assured him that the debt would be repaid in Dec 2015.

“If they break their promise, we will appeal to arbitration courts in line with British laws,” Siluanov said.

In Feb 2015, the IMF lent Ukraine $17.5bn and obliged it to reschedule its $15.3bn debt to private investors. Russia is not involved in this program and expects the Ukrainians to repay their debt in Dec 2015.
