More than 20% of Ukrainians ready for peace in Donbass at any price: poll

Most of the polled Ukrainians (54%) say peace in the east of country is worth of concessions, but not all. Another 21% of the polled citizens agree to peace at any price and through any concessions, according to a public opinion poll conducted by Democratic Initiatives Fund and Kiev International Institute of Sociology, zn.ua reported.

Only 8% of the Ukrainian citizens agree on separation of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) in exchange for peace. Another 135 of the polled suggest that the financing to these territories is cut.  As to the measures and decisions needed to restore peace in the territory of Donbass, most of the polled (35%) suggest toughening international sanctions against Russia and increasing pressure on it to force it withdraw from the conflict.  Only 14% support the military solution to the conflict with evident victory of one of the conflicting parties.

Democratic Initiatives Fund and Kiev International Institute of Sociology polled 2014 respondents in 110 populated areas, except Crimea, DPR and LPR, in the period from October 9 through 19.
