One of the largest power plants in the country caught fire in Ashkelon. It is extinguished by 12 firefighters.

Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) reported that a fire occurred at a facility near the fourth power unit, which is under reconstruction.
"As a result of the incident, no one was injured, and there is also no damage to electricity production. Firefighters are working to bring the fire under control and put it out. The Association of Cities and the Ministry of Environmental Protection were informed about the incident," the IEC said.
The Rotenberg thermal power plant is one of the largest in Israel. The total capacity of the four power units is 2.25 GW.
