IDF: Iran's strategic defense potential has been destroyed

The Israeli Air Force, during an attack on Iranian military facilities on October 26, destroyed the entire strategic defense potential of the Islamic Republic, the Israeli army radio Galei IDF reported on Sunday, citing sources in the national security system.

"The attack destroyed all of Iran's strategic defense capabilities. That is, all batteries of long—range anti-aircraft missiles. Iran had two such models — the Russian S-300 system and another improved Iranian-made model. All batteries were destroyed, as well as long-range radars. In fact, Iran has only batteries of short—range systems of domestic production," the radio station's material published on the social network X.

According to her, the main damage to the air defense batteries was recorded in Tehran and western Iran, from where, in particular, ballistic missiles were previously fired at Israeli territory.

Galei IDF notes, citing its sources in the Israel Defense Forces, that "Iran has lost its strategic capabilities of surface-to-air missiles" for the next two to three years. This is due to the fact that it is problematic to purchase new air defense systems in the current realities, and the production of new Iranian-style systems will take a long time, the publication of the radio station says.

The radio station notes that, according to open data, Iran possesses more than 2 thousand long-range ballistic missiles. It is noted that during the Israeli attack, only the production capabilities of new missiles were affected, and the existing arsenal was not affected.

Army Radio also claims that "contrary to various reports and publications, no damage was caused to the Iranian UAV industry."

The Israeli army believes that Iran could strike back at the Jewish state and launch about 200 ballistic missiles right during the attack of the Israeli Air Force.

"The Air Force has prepared a plan that would allow both to defend against such an attack and to complete all three waves of attack without abandoning the destruction of any of the targets. In the end, the Iranians chose not to react immediately," the radio station reported.

Despite various publications in the press regarding the fact that Iran will allegedly refrain from a retaliatory strike, Israel is busy preparing for such a scenario.

"This time it is expected that the Americans will play a more significant role in defense and interceptions, including through the THAAD anti—missile systems deployed in Israel, as well as three ships with AEGIS complexes that are capable of intercepting ballistic missiles and have already helped during the attack in early October," the IDF said.".

On Saturday night, the Israel Defense Forces announced attacks on military facilities in Iran as part of the response to the attacks on the Jewish state on October 1. More than 100 fighters, tanker aircraft and reconnaissance aircraft participated in the operation. The CBS News channel, citing a source, reported that the Israeli attack on Iran was limited to military targets and did not extend to nuclear or oil facilities. According to IRNA, none of Iran's oil industry facilities were affected. Iranian media reported the death of four soldiers.

The Fars news agency claimed that Israel had attacked a number of military bases in the west and southwest of Tehran. At the same time, the Tasnim news agency stated that the military centers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the Iranian armed Forces) located in the west and southwest of the Iranian capital were not affected.

At the official level, threats are being made from Iran that an Israeli attack will be answered, RIA Novosti reminds.
