From Wednesday, April 2, Europeans will need to obtain permission to travel to The United Kingdom. This procedure can be completed online by paying a fee of 12 euros, which will soon be increased to 19 euros, as reported by AFP.

We are talking about an electronic travel permit (ETA), which will be valid for two years and is obtained on the official website of the British government.

The permit has previously become mandatory for entry into The United Kingdom is for persons from non-EU countries but eligible for visa-free travel.

According to the British government, the measure is designed to strengthen border security. From Wednesday, citizens of about thirty European countries, including all countries of the European Union (EU), with the exception of Ireland, will need to have permission to travel to the UK — a country that left the EU in 2020.

The applicant will have to provide a passport photo and a photo of his face. According to the UK Ministry of the Interior, the entire registration process takes less than ten minutes, and a travel permit is usually issued within a few minutes.
