Supreme Rada members demanding Igor Kolomoisky to resign

A number of parliamentarians from the pro-presidential faction of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc (PPB) in Supreme Rada have demanded resignation of Igor Kolomoisky, governor of Dnepropetrovsk, businessman, Sergey Leshchenko, PPB faction member said on March 20.

He explained the demand for resignation with Kolomoisky’s insulting behavior towards Sergey Andrushko, a correspondent of RFE/RL.

“We demand assessment of the Dnepropetrovsk government’s actions and we will be demanding his resignation for insulting journalist Andrushko,” Leshchenko said. Journalist Mustafa Nayyem, member of the pro-presidential party, also spoke for the governor’s resignation.  The Opposition Bloc and its leader Yuri Boyko also supported the idea saying Kolomoisky’s resignation will “put an end to the conflict of interests.”

As EAD reported earlier, on March 20, Sergey Andrushko was covering the conflict around “Ukrtransnafta” in Kiev and asked the governor for comments. In response, Kolomoisky insulted the journalist.

According to Ukrainian media outlets, the forces of the National Guard of Ukraine are being deployed from the east of Ukraine to Dnepropetrovsk over possible resignation of Igor Kolomoisky.
