Polish Krabs howitzer guns will no longer have German engines. Official Warsaw, according to the publication Gazeta.Pl , signed a new contract.
Krab howitzers-cannons will use new technologies. The Poles have signed a corresponding agreement with a company from South Korea. The German-made MTU MT881 Ka-500 engines used in the Crabs will soon be replaced by new South Korean power plants.
To supply these components, Huta Stalowa Wola has entered into an agreement with the Asian company Hanwha Aerospace. The contract value is estimated at 1.1 billion zlotys (about 253 million euros). Hanwha Aerospace will supply components for Krab howitzers in the period from 2026 to 2028.
The agreement provides for the use of new engines for 87 self-propelled artillery installations-Krab howitzers, which in the coming years will be produced in Poland, and will also be used to modernize the guns already in service with the Polish army.
