Management of State Fiscal Service of Ukraine dismissed “for promoting corruption”

Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk accepted the resignation of Igor Belous, the head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine (FSU). The prime minister told the government on March 23: “We respect and accept the letter of resignation by the head of the State Fiscal Service.”

In addition, Yatsenyuk said the Cabinet dismissed Vladimir Khomenko, the first deputy head of the FSU, and deputy head Anatoly Makarenko, following official inspection of the FSU management. The Cabinet adopted such a decision after the Ukrainian Government’s Commission reported on the results of the inspection of the FSU’s activity.

“The Commission has reported serious problems in the taxation and customs services. There are numerous cases of embezzlements and violations of the anti-monopoly legislation,” said Ayvaras Abromavichus, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, at the meeting of the Cabinet. “This agency promotes corruption. We have exposed big corruption problems that hinder the country’s development,” the minister said. He promised personnel purges throughout the Service.
