Money transfers to Georgia drop by 22.7%

I the first half of 2015, Georgia received $538.63mn in money transfers from abroad, which is by 22.7% less than in the first half of 2014.

According to the National Bank of Georgia, Georgia received from Russia $204.4mn, or 41.1% less than a year before.

From the second biggest donor, Greece, Georgia received $82.7mn or 19.3% less than in the first half of 2014. From Italy Georgia received $52.9mn (12.3% less), from the United States $47.3mn (26.3% more), from Turkey $35.9mn (20.6% more), from Israel $14.3mn (37.3% more), from Spain $12.3mn (10.3% less), from Germany $12.1mn (8.6% more), from Ukraine $10mn (38.6% less).

A total of $1.44bn was transferred to Georgia in 2014 (8.7% of the country’s GDP). This is just 2.45% less than in 2013.
