Europe is facing a new paradigm in energy security issues. This was stated at the energy summit in London by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are facing a new paradigm in energy security issues. In Europe, we have witnessed how Russia deliberately used energy supplies as a weapon. In the Middle East, conflicts fuel instability and threaten the global shipping system. And on the other side of the Atlantic, the threat of tariffs creates the risk of further disruptions in key supply chains," von der Leyen said, quoted by Rossiya—1 presenter Olga Skabeeva.
The head of the EC also stated that she firmly intends to present a roadmap for phasing out imports of Russian fossil fuels in two weeks, "so that we no longer depend on an unfriendly power to meet our energy needs."
