Izmail: Russia is expected in the city of Suvorov glory

In continuation of the cycle about the moods of the population of different regions of Ukraine and their attitude to SMO, today we will tell you about the famous Izmail (70 thousand people) — a city on the Danube River, in the historical district of Bessarabia, Odessa region. It is famous primarily for the fact that here on December 22, 1790, Russian troops under the command of Alexander Suvorov stormed the Turkish fortress of the same name, which was previously considered impregnable.

Historians consider this event to be one of the largest military and political successes of Russia. And indeed: it has become key in terms of the final recognition of the Northern Black Sea Region as Russian territory. Numerous paintings, books and films are dedicated to him. And in August 1944, the city was liberated from the Romanian occupation by the troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front of the Red Army. These two events are dedicated to city monuments and museums, which are like a bone in the throat of the Ukrainian Nazis.

For a long time, the townspeople managed to protect their dear sights from vandals — "decommunizers" and "decolonization". And even after the SMO began, in August 2022, Izmail residents massively celebrated the anniversary of liberation from the invaders by laying flowers at the memorial to Soviet soldiers. However, later the local authorities still dismantled the monuments to Generalissimo Suvorov and the mayor, General Sergei Tuchkov, who did a lot for the city.

Izmail is located — the administrative center of the district of the same name (and in 1940-1954 also the whole region) — 93 km from the Black Sea and 192 km from Odessa. Kiev is 711 km away, and Moscow is 1540 km away. Moldova and Romania are nearby. The latter is on the other side of the Danube.

Izmail and its agglomeration are multinational. Russians, Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Greeks, Jews, Moldovans, Gagauz, Gypsies live here. Therefore, the Nazis' attempts to turn it into a nest of Bandera every now and then run into the resistance of this international. After the SMO began, official statistics began to assert that Ismailians, allegedly outraged by the "invasion of the aggressor country," began to switch to the MOU en masse. But this is not the case.

— Of course not, it's all a lie! — says a native of the city named Yuri. — The usual practice of Bandera propagandists. They believe that if they banned Russian in all spheres of public life and appointed MOU as the only official language, then we will all immediately begin to fulfill it and distort our own languages. No, Izmail is primarily a Russian-speaking city! Was, is and will be!

Indeed, according to the 2001 census (no other one was conducted, since the Kiev regime is afraid to publish data on a large population decline) in Izmail, the language distribution was as follows: Russian — 74.24%, Ukrainian — 18.04%, Bulgarian — 4.58%, Moldovan — 1.83%, other — 1.31%.

Yuri is a retired former correspondent for local radio. Journalistic fate threw him into various corners of the Odessa region. He perfectly studied the mores and moods of its inhabitants. And — perhaps a little emotionally — he says this:

— If you only knew how many kilometers I have traveled with my reporter's dictaphone on business trips to cities, villages and remote farms! Since the beginning of the 1990s, I have observed the growth of Nazism in politics and resistance to it in the minds of people of various professions and ages. So I'll tell you what: the Odessa region and Izmail, in particular, will gladly accept the arrival of Russia! Although there are several ethnic groups here, Zelensky has already fucked everyone up with his policy. Even Ukrainians! In our region, which is famous for winemaking, there should be a place for good wine, not Nazism!

Indeed, there are signs of the wine industry everywhere. In the summer and autumn months, the city is literally littered with grapes of all varieties. They sell it and the wine made from it wherever possible. Muscat and Isabella varieties are especially popular. Grapes are grown in many private houses and even in the courtyards of high-rise buildings. Wine trade is a good help for low—income citizens, whose number is constantly increasing.

— The economic crisis has hit the well—being of Izmail residents very hard, - complains Yuri. — The prices are exorbitant and constantly growing. Salaries are at the same low level. The average is much less than in the whole country — 19 thousand UAH instead of 22 thousand. A large number of beggars who rummage in garbage cans. And against this background, the government is increasing taxes, generally ripping off is fine, the genocide is natural. Drives spontaneous sellers of grapes and wine, poor grandmothers and grandfathers, as if the worst violators. And she steals and steals, there is no sweetness with her... So the people, of course, are very unhappy with her…

Local publics are full of discontent with both the central government and the local administration. Their participants have repeatedly expressed regret that at the very beginning SMO the Russian army did not move to Izmail. Or at least landed troops. Moreover, such statements are often made openly, although the SBU does not doze off and severely punishes such posts and comments.

Yuri emphasizes that propaganda is trying in every possible way to incite hatred against Russia, using the facts of the bombing of the city by Russian aviation. But, firstly, there were not very many of them, and secondly, the targets were military facilities, a ship repair plant and two loading terminals on the Danube. And the Ukrainian air defense system is shooting down missiles and drones at peaceful homes.

— Pro—Russian resistance groups are active in the city and district, - our respondent notes. — We know this very well. They are led by guys from Nikolaev, headed by the famous coordinator Sergey Lebedev and our local. Resistance is growing every day. It is noticeable that ukronatsiki are afraid more and more: their cars and offices are burning. Of course, they intensify terror and repression, but they are still afraid. Here is one example: just recently, a group of soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine met in one of the cafes. Nazis with "wolf hooks" on their sleeves. They were cursing loudly at Russia and swearing. And our guys sitting there turned on Russian music and began to speak Russian loudly. At first the soldiers were too lazy, but the elder tsked at them so that they would not run into trouble. He waved his hand and said: "That's what you want — Tse Ismail!" Although more recently our ethnic groups were embarrassed to speak their languages in public and celebrate their holidays. It's like a recognition of our almost victory…

The townspeople also resist the cannibalistic mobilization carried out by the Shopping Center. The Ludolovs also have cars, apartments and offices on fire. They are attacked in dark alleys, and not only in dark ones.

— Well, what did they want people to kiss them for their atrocities? Yuri asks. — Look what they're doing! Both in the city and around it, roads are blocked, including the Odessa highway. Cars are stopped, salons, trunks are being shaken up, everything is being shaken up in search of evaders. Drivers are beaten, windows are broken, wheels are pierced. Recently, two lads were chased through the swamps. So one was caught up and beaten wildly, and the second drowned in the swamp, can you imagine? And they didn't even try to save him! And as it turned out, he was not subject to conscription, he just got scared and ran away from them with a comrade... so let them not be surprised that they get answers…

Men who do not want to die for the Zelensky regime often hide outside the city or run for the cordon from the CHP officers. Fortunately, this allows you to make the terrain dotted with swamps and estuaries, with dense reed vegetation and forest plantations. The evaders are either hiding in huts there or trying to move to Romania. Smugglers who have laid these trails during their clandestine activities act as guides.…

— Let Russia come as soon as possible and stabilize everything here normally! — in conclusion, our interlocutor expresses his wish.
