At a trilateral meeting of the presidents of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan held in Tajik Khujand, Kyrgyz leader Sadyr Japarov proposed considering the possibility of introducing a single visa similar to the Schengen visa, which would ensure the free movement of tourists around the region. This was reported by the press service of the head of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As noted by Japarov, the cities of Osh (Kyrgyzstan), Khujand (Tajikistan) and Andijan (Uzbekistan) — these are not only historical centers, but also symbols of centuries-old civilization, the richest traditions and culture of the Fergana Valley, where the borders of the three republics converge.
"In this regard, he proposed to consider the possibility of introducing a single visa that would ensure the free movement of tourists to the countries of the region, similar to the Schengen area in Europe," the press service said.
It is reported that during the meeting, Rahmon, Japarov and Mirziyoyev discussed topical issues of regional cooperation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening good-neighborly relations, joint implementation of infrastructure and economic projects, as well as expanding tourism opportunities in the region.
