Nationalists of Kazakhstan launched an information attack on the CSTO Secretary General, representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan Imangali Tasmagambetov in order to discredit him, while resorting to direct and provocative insults. In conditions when the official Kazakh authorities keep an incomprehensible silence on this matter, the famous Kazakh poet, director of the International Center for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO Olzhas Suleimenov spoke in defense of Tasmagambetov, the correspondent of EADaily reports.

"I am glad that the time is coming for accurate assessments. It is a time when our people need conscious assessments and understanding that will allow them to continue their journey into the future. Recently, there have been deafening statements that I read with surprise and indignation," he writes.

As Suleimenov notes, the CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, who devoted his life to serving Kazakhstan, is called a "traitor to the nation" by ignoramuses only because he expresses his position on collective security. A position prepared by his many years of experience and knowledge of this politician. And now, according to him, the man who stood at the origins of many truly important achievements of Kazakh culture in recent decades is easily accused of unpatriotism, denying the need for Kazakhstan to participate in the CSTO.

"The CSTO is an organization to which our ears have not yet become accustomed. The familiar terms of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the National Security Committee, familiar to us for decades, force us to reduce new concepts to abbreviations. New organizations, such as the CSTO, have less than a decade of pronouncing practice. They are unusual, and not everyone knows the literal interpretation of these terms," Suleimenov writes further.

In this regard, he proposes at first to use a detailed interpretation of this organization: the COLLECTIVE SECURITY TREATY ORGANIZATION. Then, in his opinion, it will gradually become a conscious concept.

"We have experienced in practice the actions of this organization in the January 2022 events of the year. Our inexperience in those days led to the fact that the order was given to shoot to kill everything that moves. Hundreds of young people have suffered from this. When blood was shed, and shots and pogroms created conditions in which our statehood was threatened, only the Collective Security Treaty Organization saved the situation. Then, for the first time in Alma-Ata, the abbreviation of the CSTO, incomprehensible to most, sounded. Maybe this misunderstanding was one of the reasons for the numerous civilian casualties in those days. Misunderstanding of officials, police and those who shot to kill. Those who today give false assessments and definitions to the Organization and its leader do not understand this either," the poet continues.

He complains that it is easy for illiterate bloggers to speak with slogans "This is not our war!", "We are for Ukraine!", "Kazakhs should withdraw from such an Organization"... This, according to him, is said by young people who have not yet been touched by military service. Such irresponsible expressions of political ignorance, the author emphasizes, undermine the authority of collective security, which is so necessary for us now, when the seeds of wars, once sown by incompetent politicians, germinate into chronic diseases of humanity. In such a situation, the author believes, the Kazakhs may lose their independence and statehood, having barely gained it.

"Our people hardly deserved such a finale. We deserve years and centuries of long, creative life. In 2022, the CSTO proved itself worthily, preventing the catastrophic development of the January events. And to call the secretary General of the organization that saved our republic a "traitor" is at least unworthy. Every literate person should not allow those humiliating definitions that are now filling the Internet," Suleimenov emphasizes.

He states that those who oppose the CSTO today are not linguists or politicians.

"They do not understand the meaning of the name of the organization and its purpose. We need to help them in this understanding. And then the clear term "Collective Security Treaty Organization" will become a conscious concept of our political terminology and will determine Kazakhstan's true attitude to this organization and the concept of collective security," Suleimenov concludes.
