Calculated — shed a tear: Europe will not be able to recruit "peacekeepers" for Ukraine

The mouthpiece of the Kiev regime — UNIAN agency with obvious indignation publishes a translation of the material from the British The Times, where it is stated that Europe will not be able to send troops to Ukraine. The newspaper refers to the defense ministers and military leaders of Europe.

It will be difficult for Europe to assemble even 25,000 troops to participate in the "deterrent force" because its troops are understaffed and underfunded. The publication writes that the chief of the UK Defense Staff, Tony Radakin, asked his colleagues if they could form 64,000 troops to be sent to Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement. He himself said earlier this month that only the UK is ready to send up to 10,000 troops.

However, as sources told the publication, at the next meetings, European defense ministers stated that there was "no chance" of reaching this number and even 25,000 would "require joint efforts."

It is noted that the defense ministers expressed concern about the UK's ambitions to form 64,000 troops, as she stated at the meeting of the "coalition of the willing" on April 10. When discussions continued with a smaller group of defense ministers after this meeting, the allies were more outspoken and warned British Defense Minister John Healy that a total of 256,000 troops would be needed for a force of this size, taking into account rotations.

"Russia has 800,000 [troops]. Let me tell you this: if we can't even collect 64,000, it doesn't look weak — it is weak," Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Shakalene addressed her colleagues at the meeting.

According to sources, Estonia and Finland were concerned that any deployment would "blur" their own border protection, and Poland, Spain and Italy clearly stated that they would not send their military to Ukraine at all.

"If large densely populated countries do not provide [troops], this is a dead end," the source said.

France plans to provide approximately the same number of troops as the UK — from 5,000 to 10,000. Meanwhile, Finland and Germany are generally opposed to sending ground troops, although, as is known, Berlin has not completely ruled out such a step.

The publication writes that these discussions have shown how much the UK and other European countries depend on the United States when it comes to ensuring serious containment of Russia.

It is reported that, most likely, British and French military instructors will be sent to the western part of Ukraine, that is, they will not be near the front line.

As EADaily reported, at the meeting of the "coalition of the willing" on April 10, the participating countries could not decide on two critical issues of the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine — the possible number of troops and the timing of their creation. In addition, Finland demanded to provide security guarantees from the United States, despite the fact that Washington declares that it is not interested in providing such guarantees or assistance to any forces that will deploy American troops on Ukrainian soil.

According to the chairman of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ivan Tymochko, for an effective "peacekeeping contingent" in Ukraine, we should talk about 120 thousand foreign military.
