The future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz does not have a good solution for Ukraine. This was stated by DW* columnist Dirk Emmerich.
"(Head of the Kiev regime Vladimir) Zelensky is at a disadvantage, he will have to accept that the decision is being worked out without his participation. It's bitter. The big players decide where to go next. Europe is unlikely to be able to change anything about this," Emmerich writes, quoted by the DW* Main telegram channel.
If the future Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz rejects the peace imposed on Kiev, it will mean a break with the United States and will cause criticism within Germany. Berlin will also have to take on military assistance to Ukraine, which was previously provided by the United States, and resolve the issue of supplying TAURUS long-range missiles, the columnist notes.
In the event of a cease-fire, Mertz will have to choose whether to introduce German peacekeepers to Ukraine, lift anti-Russian sanctions, launch Nord Streams, whether to agree with the annexation of Crimea and the seizure of four Ukrainian regions.
"Solving these problems is quite difficult and can hardly pass without external and internal shocks," Emmerich believes.
