Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine summons Yatsenyuk for questioning

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine has instituted a criminal case based on reports of abuse of office by some Cabinet officials. Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk is ready to testify.

According to Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, a lot of money has been stolen. “I have spoken to Mr. Yatsenyuk and he has agreed to answer any question. I hope that our cooperation will be fruitful,” Shokin said.

On Mar 18, dismissed Chairman of the State Financial Inspection of Ukraine Mykola Hordiyenko told the MPs about corruption schemes used in the Yatsenyuk Cabinet and asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to inquire into the Cabinet’s activities.

On Mar 22, the State Financial Inspection found out that under the Yatsenyuk Cabinet Ukraine had lost 7.6bn UAH or twice as much as the losses caused by the Azarov Cabinet.

All the chiefs of the State Fiscal Service were fired for “encouraging corruption” on Mar 23.

Chief of the State Service of Emergency Situations Serhiy Bochkovsky was arrested during a Cabinet meeting on Mar 25 on suspicion of abuse of office and corruption.

Later, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said that Bochkovsky had a number of offshore companies, where he kept sending money allocated for the fuel needs of his service.
