The Ukrainian army has started firing at international monitoring missions, Deputy Commander of the Corps of the Defense Ministry of the Donetsk People’s Republic Eduard Basurin said on May 12.
“They did it on purpose. On May 8, they launched grenades at representatives of the Democracy Fund near Shirokino. They started the fire when the observers were examining the holes caused by prohibited shells,” Basurin said.
“On May 11, they fired at Shirokino exactly when an OSCE mission was patrolling the area. As a result, the observers were forced to go deep into the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic,” Basurin said.
He believes that the goal of the Ukrainian army is to prevent international observers from detecting their use of prohibited weapons.
