Moldova waiting for comeback to Russian market

Russia is ready for gradual renewal of supply of Moldovan agriculture products to the Russian market, press office of the Moldovan Agriculture Ministry has said after talks on bilateral cooperation in agriculture that took place in Moscow. The talks were held as part of a meeting of co-chairs of the Moldova-Russia intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, Viktor Osipov and Dmitry Rogozin. Moldova’s deputy agriculture minister Eduard Grama was also participating in the meeting.

As they state at the Moldova’s agriculture ministry, during the talks, Grama informed on measures taken to intensify cooperation between the two ministries and sanitary and veterinary authorities.

Speaking on exports of the Moldovan agriculture products to the Russian market, he stressed that now only a few Moldovan companies are selling their products to Russia. Grama asked the Russian government to think of lifting the current constraints and allow resuming exports to other Moldovan companies as well.

As the Moldovan ministry states, the Russian counterparts expressed readiness for gradual renewal of supply of agriculture goods from Moldova to the Russian market.

To remind, in 2014, Moscow imposed ban on supply of agriculture goods, wine, canned fruits and vegetables and some other goods. The talks on renewing the exports were initiated by the Moldovan party. If the decision is made, the Russian side will be paying special attention to monitoring of biological safety of the cultivation places and mechanisms of phytosanitary certification of exported goods. Recently, specialists from the Russian phytosantiary authority have paid a visit to canneries in Moldova.
