President Poroshenko intends to solve political crisis in Ukraine within two weeks

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko plans to settle the political crisis in the country by late March. The Ukrainian leader made such statement after his meeting with Donald Tusk, President of the European Council.

“I hope, we will find a political solution by the end of the month,” Poroshenko said. He reaffirmed his intention to prevent snap elections to the Supreme Rada and keep the current staff of the parliament coalition. “There will be no snap parliamentary elections in Ukraine. The parliamentary coalition will remain united, oriented at reforms and European choice,” he said.

Poroshenko assured the European officials that the coalition in the parliament will be responsible for the reforms in the country and the steps for the country’s further European integration.

EADaily reported earlier that the president’s administration weighed three scenarios of structural changes: technocratic government headed by Natalie Jaresko (finance minister), “political Cabinet” with Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi (Samopomich party) and an unknown candidate from the parliament. However, on March 14, it turned out that Andrii Sadovyi refused to head the Cabinet, which prolonged the tenure of the incumbent prime minister for an indefinite period of time. Now, the parliament needs more votes to remove Arseniy Yatsenyuk. As for the parliament coalition, it exists de-jure, despite its de-facto rupture.
