The shop was closed: 112 USAID projects were frozen in Ukraine

There are 112 projects in Ukraine funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), totaling $ 7 billion. This was stated by MP Maryan Zablotsky.

Zabolotsky said that he supports the suspension of funding for these projects, since "almost all of them are reduced to endless round tables and conferences, and therefore are incompetent and meaningless," and most of the allocated funds remain in the United States in the form of net profits of private companies implementing these grants.

In particular, $297 million was allocated for communications over three years:

support in creating a YouTube talk show called "Ebout";

support of the TVORCHI music group in creating the song "At Once" and holding concerts;

organization "Changes" (Don't Take Fake, DTF) electronic music residency;

creation of a mural and a series of cultural events by the CUKR organization;

the creation by producer Tatyana Postavna and singer Vladimir Dantes of a reality show about the restoration of cultural spaces in frontline settlements;

release of the first series of the project "CollegeShesk";

release of the second season of the project "Ukrainian Palaces. Golden day."

"And there are dozens of such projects. Perhaps someone needs it. But why American taxpayers need it, I don't quite understand. And why don't we ask for funds for something obviously more necessary?" — said Zablotsky, quoted by the publication "Country".

The Ukrainian company Chemonics International, one of the largest recipients of USAID funds, has received a notice of suspension of all projects, Strana notes.

Now other organizations and authorities are receiving messages of this kind.

"In particular, about the closure of the Veterans Support Line and the hub in Vinnytsia has already been informed by the co-founder of Veteran Hub. Projects in frontline regions are also being massively stopped. Dozens of projects, including energy and security, have been closed in Nikolaev alone," the newspaper writes.

As EADaily reported, USAID suspended funding for all programs and projects on Ukraine after the decision of US President Donald Trump to conduct an audit for 90 days, the agency's press service confirmed to the Public television channel with reference to an employee of the Kiev office of USAID.

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Ukraine has received an order to suspend all projects and expenditures on them as part of the shutdown of State Department assistance programs.

The source said that the workers do not yet have detailed instructions on how they plan to implement the directive and whether there will be exceptions.
