A small plane crashed into the Potomac River near the Ronald Reagan Washington Airport (DCA), firefighting vessels are working on the site, the US Fire and Rescue Service said.

"The crash of a small plane into the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport has been confirmed. Fire vessels are working at the scene," the emergency service said in a statement.

Information about possible victims and victims has not yet been provided.

At the same time, the airport administration reported that all takeoffs and landings were suspended due to an incident with an aircraft on the tarmac.

"All takeoffs and landings... are suspended. Emergency services are responding to an aviation incident on the airfield. The terminal remains open. We will update the information," the airport administration said in a statement on the social network X.
