Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni made a proposal to extend to Ukraine has the fifth article of the NATO Charter, which provides for the principle of collective defense.

According to Bloomberg, this proposal does not mean inviting Ukraine to the North Atlantic Alliance. According to Meloni, this option is already being discussed.

"This would be a guarantee of stable, long-term and effective security. This is one of the proposals that we are putting up for discussion," the Italian prime minister said.

She expressed her conviction that real security guarantees for Ukraine can be provided only in the context of NATO.

"This is different from joining NATO, but it means extending the same guarantees to Ukraine, which member countries use," Meloni said.

Earlier, EADaily reported that no one gives Ukraine security guarantees in the form in which the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, demands them, because in his version these are guarantees for the lawlessness of nationalists. So says the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Dubinsky.
