A high-ranking employee of the Federal Tax Service has been arrested in Moscow

The Investigative Committee has charged Vitaly Ivakhnik, deputy head of the on-site inspections department of the Federal Tax Service (FTS), with taking a bribe and abuse of authority.

Ivakhnik was charged under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale) and part 1 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official authority). Possible punishment — up to 15 years in prison. The Basmanny district Court of Moscow sent the accused under arrest until May 16, 2025.

"As the investigator points out, Ivakhnik V.V. is accused of committing two crimes against state power, one of which belongs to the category of especially grave," the court said in a ruling posted in the public domain.

Vitaly Ivakhnik has been working in the bodies of the Federal Tax Service of Russia for more than 10 years, including more than three years as a senior deputy head of the department in the Inspectorate for the largest taxpayers No. 3.
