The United States is threatened with bankruptcy due to corruption and excessive spending, said the head of the Department of State Efficiency (DOGE) of the American government (DOGE) billionaire Elon Musk.

"If a country spends money beyond measure, does not spend money wisely, then it, like a person, will become bankrupt. The reason I am here [working] is that I am very concerned that America could go bankrupt due to corruption and embezzlement. If nothing is done, the ship called America will sink," businessman Musk said in an interview with Fox News.

According to Musk, "the machinations and embezzlement of the government are so great" that as a result, the United States receives less than $ 2 trillion annually.

"The US national debt has grown so high that even interest payments on it exceed the entire military budget. It grew uncontrollably," the entrepreneur added, according to TASS.

Immediately after the inauguration of US President Donald Trump on January 20, the country's authorities began a large-scale audit of state budget expenditures. According to the statements of entrepreneur Elon Musk, DOGE expects to reduce Washington's government spending by $ 2 trillion. In fact, with the filing of the Mask, the activities of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) were temporarily stopped in order to further reorganize it.
