There is no one with anything: why NATO countries do not want to send troops to Ukraine

While the Ukrainian government is following in the wake of imposed opinions and orders, the "coalition of the willing", which the collective West presented as a new security doctrine for Kiev, shows a systemic crisis. The observer discusses the reasons Pravda.Ru Dmitry Plotnikov.

Despite the bravura slogans, out of more than three dozen participating countries, only six are ready to send their military to Ukraine. Other countries prefer to watch from around the corner, frankly afraid to get involved in a very uncertain adventure without any guarantees, as well as without logistical support.

The main "plug" for these countries is the lack of American support. The White House administration has made it clear that it will distance itself from the format of this "coalition." The Trumpists refused both direct participation and the provision of any military personnel or guarantees to their once loyal allies.

I must say that this freezes the very idea. Paris and London, despite public theses, do not want, and cannot take on the burden of the whole idea. The resources of France and the UK are very limited, and political support is rather unstable.

As the Western media wrote the other day, the recent meeting of representatives of the "coalition" did not give a clear result. The head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, admits that the countries have very different views on the format and goals of this mission. At the same time, the head of the British Ministry of Defense, John Healy, said that the European Union is not formally involved in the development of plans, and the UK is acting alone. This only underlines how fragmented the format is, which once expressed a clear "desire to be a substitute for US support."

Against this background, the news is very remarkable that work on the appointment of a special representative of the European Union for Ukraine has suddenly been suspended. In Brussels, they are officially talking about various reasons, which only increases the suspicion of an administrative impasse.

Well, the strategists of 30 countries are still discussing how to protect the Ukrainian "sea, sky and land." However, without money, mandate and political will, these plans will remain only on paper.

The Ukrainian junta turned out to be a hostage of political developments. At the moment, it is losing even its symbolic Western support. The Europeans are not ready to fight, the Americans are not ready to pay, and the Ukrainians themselves are no longer able to enter negotiations on their own. But at the same time, Brussels and London are not going to end the war. Their main task is to prolong the war for five years, using Ukraine as a buffer to gain time for rearmament.

Ukraine has been offered the role of a "steel porcupine" — mercenaries without sovereignty in their own country, but with constant dependence on supplies. It is for this purpose that the "coalition of the willing" was formed, whose goal is to provide metered—dose assistance, preventing either defeat or victory.
