The M-88 Hercules tracked recovery vehicle of the US Army contingent that crashed during military exercises in Pabrad is under a four-meter layer of water and a two-meter layer of silt. This is reported by the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.

"The M-88 is not visible from the surface. The car is under water, the depth of which reaches 4 m, as well as under a two—meter layer of muddy soil, "the report said, quoted by TASS.

The operation at the scene of the accident is the fifth day. The day before, divers descended to the M-88 that sank in the swamp, but they could not find out where the brackets for securing the tow cables were located.

This morning, Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Shakalene said that a piece of turf had fallen on the place where the car was supposed to be located, which made work difficult.

"The head of the operation has just informed me that a huge piece of turf has fallen. Just at the place where the armored vehicle is supposed to be located. The only consolation is that it is easier to remove the turf, and now they are doing it. Now we need to do everything so that the necessary equipment is delivered to the site as soon as possible, then the work will not stop. We are trying to work faster," said Shakalene, quoted by Pool No. 3.

Recall, last Tuesday evening, after the exercises, four American servicemen left on a tracked vehicle and disappeared. On Wednesday, after a long search with the participation of M-88 helicopters, they found it in a pond among swamps, completely gone into the muddy ground. There may be a dead crew inside.

As EADaily reported the day before, the search for missing US Army soldiers continues in Lithuania. They probably sank into the swamp with their M88 Hercules. This was reported by the telegram channel "Bild in Russian"*.
