At midnight on April 8-9, the Kiev regime again tried to attack the Turkish Stream, which remained the only route for exporting Russian gas to Europe. The Ministry of Defense reported that now the Ukrainian Armed Forces were trying to hit another compressor station, but the attack was also repulsed.
"From 23.38 minutes on April 8 to 1.26 on April 9, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an attack using 8 UAVs at the Korenovskaya compressor station in the Korenovsky district of the Krasnodar Territory. This compressor station provides power supply to the Turkish Stream export gas pipeline. The pumping capacity of the Korenovskaya station is 31.5 billion. cubic meters of gas per year," the Ministry of Defense reports.
All attacking UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were shot down by air defense systems and fire groups, the department said.
"There was no damage to the station," the report says.
The Ministry of Defense believes that this was a deliberate attack by the Kiev regime on an international energy facility.
"Thus, in violation of the Russian-American agreements on the cessation of strikes on energy facilities for 30 days, starting from March 18, the Kiev regime has not actually stopped attacks on Russian energy infrastructure facilities for a single day," the ministry said, adding that in 2.30 On April 9, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out an attack by two drones also on the Temryuk gas distribution station, which provides gas supply to the city and port of Temryuk.
"Both UAVs were destroyed at a safe distance from the object," the ministry added.
Before that, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had repeatedly tried to damage the Turkish Stream, which, after stopping the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, became the only route for Gazprom's supplies to Europe. The last one is February 28.
"On the night of February 28, against the background of V. Zelensky's trip to Washington, the Kiev regime, in order to stop gas supplies to European countries, made another attack attempt using three aircraft-type UAVs on the infrastructure of the Russian compressor station in the village of Gai-Kodzor (Krasnodar Territory), which supplies gas through the Turkish Stream pipeline. During the repulse of the raid by Russian air defense units, all three Ukrainian UAVs were shot down at a safe distance from the compressor station. The compressor station is currently supplying gas to the Turkish Stream pipeline in normal mode,"the Ministry of Defense reported.
Gas from the European branch of the Turkish Stream is supplied directly to Hungary, Serbia, Greece, Slovakia and North Macedonia. Traders also resell Russian gas to Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the failure of the Turkish Stream would seriously threaten Hungary's energy security, and Budapest regards the drone attack on the pipeline as an attack on sovereignty.
