Over the past 24 hours, progress has been made in resolving the Ukrainian conflict, US Vice President Jay Dee said. Vance during a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni in Rome.

"We discussed a lot yesterday [April 17 in Washington], we have several important topics to discuss today. In particular, I will inform Prime Minister Meloni about the progress of negotiations on Ukraine between the Russian Federation and the United States. Even in the last 24 hours we have interesting things that I will report privately. We are optimistic that it is possible to put an end to this war," said Vance, quoted by TASS.

The US Vice President also expressed optimism about the possibility of ending the conflict.

As EADaily reported, the foreign policy unit of the team of the American president Donald Trump again hurried to negotiate in the Ukrainian direction.

April 17 in Paris hosted a meeting of representatives of the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany and Ukraine. The United States was represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff. The talks were devoted to the transition to a ceasefire and the establishment of a lasting peace as soon as possible. Rubio said that the US president would refuse to mediate in achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine, if it does not see progress in this direction in the coming days. As the head of the State Department noted, "we are not going to continue this work for weeks and months, so we need to decide very quickly — and I'm talking about a few days — whether this is feasible in the next few weeks." "If so, we're in. If not, then we have other priorities that we need to focus on," Rubio said.
