Igor Kolomoisky resings from post of Dnipropetrovsk governor

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has dismissed Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Region Igor Kolomoisky.

According to Poroshenko’s website, the president did it on Kolomoisky’s own request.

“We must ensure peace and stability in Dnipropetrovsk. This region must remain our stronghold in the east,” Poroshenko said.

Governor of Zaporizhia region Valentyn Reznichenko has been appointed as acting governor of Dnipropetrovsk region.

Kolomoisky stayed in office for one year. His key activity during that period was manning and arming volunteer groups for punitive operations in Donbass. In fact, he turned Dnipropetrovsk region into a pro-Kyiv military camp. He also neutralized all parties and politicians opposing the Kyiv regime.

However, recently Poroshenko began oppressing oligarchs in an attempt to get all strings of power in his hands. And his first target was the strongest of them, Igor Kolomoisky. On Mar 19, Kolomoisky appeared with a strong protest against a new bill authorizing the regime to deprive him of any control over the country’s leading oil producer, Ukrnafta, and obliging him to pay billions worth dividends to the government.
