Rosfinmonitoring to control bank transactions of citizens of 41 “unreliable countries”

Russia’s Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring) has urged the Russian banks to keep it informed about the transactions of their customers from 41 countries.

The list includes citizens and companies from the United States, Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, all 28 EU member states, Norway, Iran, Sudan, Syria, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, Switzerland and North Korea.
According to Izvestia newspaper, from now on all bank transactions by customers from the abovementioned countries will be regarded as “suspicious” and even “undesirable.”

Against some of the countries Russia has applied counter-sanctions. The others are believed to be inefficient in fighting corruption (like New Zealand) or tolerant towards terrorism. Switzerland is believed to be inactive in fighting drug-trafficking.
