Casualties reported, as Armenians and Azerbaijanis blame each other for sabotage attempt

On December 4, at 4:30am Azerbaijan mounted a sabotage attack on the northeastern section of the contact line of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces, the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Ministry press office said.

The frontline units of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army timely detected the penetration attempt, stopped the raiders and threw them back. Serviceman Erik Grigoryan (born in 1995) received a fatal gunshot wound, the source reports.

In addition, it is reported that at the night of December 4, Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire along the NKR-Azerbaijan Line of Contact for about 80 times by firing over 650 shots at the Karabakh positions.

Reportedly, the adversary keeps breaching the ceasefire.  The NKR Defense Army retaliates to suppress the adversary.

Meantime, the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan reports that “Armenia’ armed forces attempted to attack the Azerbaijani positions on various parts of the front line on the December 4 night” taking advantage of the military and political situation in the region. 

“Azerbaijani armed units detected the enemy in advance and resolutely prevented the actions of the enemy. Armenian forces were forced to retreat by suffering heavy losses. The number of their losses is being specified. One Azerbaijani serviceman, ensign was wounded during the firefight. After receiving first aid, the serviceman was taken to a medical station. His condition is stable and under control,” the source reports.

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reports that they control the situation along the Line of Contact and stand ready to prevent any actions of the adversary.
