Moldova ready to host Turkish investments meant for Russia

Moldova’s Economy Minister Stephane Bride has welcomed Turkish investments withdrawn from Russia. He made the proposal at a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Moldova Mehmet Selim Kartal. They discussed dynamics of the economic relations between Moldova and Turkey.

Besides, the parties had consultations on several possible investment projects. They agreed to hold a business forum on January 22, 2016.

“Moldova can become a good site for factories of Turkish companies working in Russia, taking into account privileges given in free-trade areas and industrial parks of the country,” Stephane Bride said commenting on the Russian sanctions against Turkey.

The Turkish diplomat noted his country was open for any constructive dialog.

According to the Moldovan Economic Ministry, in Jan-Sep 2015, the trade turnover with Turkey was $261.9 mn, which is by 13.5% less than in the same period last year. Turkey is sixth foreign trade partner of Moldova.
