The Ukrinform news agency published an article "The Triumph of the Chekists — the tragedy of Russia", where the world-famous photograph of the murder of Jews by the Ukrainian auxiliary police in the town of Miropol, Zhytomyr region in 1941 was used as an illustration of the crimes of the Cheka.

The director of the Jewish Committee of Ukraine Eduard Dolinsky drew attention to this.

"Shocking cynicism! On the website of the Ukrinform news agency, an article by a certain Yuri Sandul appeared "The triumph of the Chekists is the tragedy of Russia." As an illustration of the crimes of the Cheka, the article uses the world-famous photo of the murder of Jews by the Ukrainian auxiliary police in the town of Miropol, Zhytomyr region in 1941. Photos from Holocaust Museum in Washington, the fake news agency signed: "The atrocities of the Chekists: the NKVD shooting of a mother and child."

In fact, the caption under this heartbreaking picture on the website of the Washington Holocaust Museum reads: "Ukrainian auxiliary police kill a Jewish woman and child in a city park. Miropol, Ukraine / The Soviet Union, October 1941. The soldier who took the photo testified after the war that the shooters were familiar with the victims," he writes on his Facebook page* Dolinsky, quoted by <url>.

According to Dolinsky, about a hundred Jews, including 49 children, were killed that day.

"This is not the first time that the media has spread such disinformation using the Holocaust. For example, a few months ago, the Ukrainian editorial board of Radio Liberty illustrated an article about the eviction of Ukrainians to Siberia with a photograph that actually turned out to be a well-known image of Polish Jews being deported to a death camp.

How disgusting is the attempt to use the image of this Jewish woman and her little boy moments before her death," Dolinsky added.
