At the Congress of the party "Alternative for Germany" in Riza (the territory of the former GDR), the delegates refused to condemn Russia for SMO and "anti-German narratives". The amendment to the resolution of the congress, which condemned the war, was made by representatives of Hesse, the Ukrainian TV channel "Politics of the Country" reports.
Initially, the resolution stated that "the AfD condemns the behavior of President Putin and once again calls on all warring parties to declare an immediate cease-fire and hold peace talks."
But in the end, this proposal could not even be put to a vote.
Also, the delegates did not want to discuss the proposal, which emphasizes the importance of good relations with Russia, but rejects the "anti-German historical narratives spread by Russia."
As a result, in the election manifesto of the AfD, theses appeared that "the war on Ukraine has undermined the European peace order" and "unhindered trade with Russia needs to be restored."
As EADaily reported, the congress of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the Saxon city of Riza approved Alice Weidel, the co—chairman of the political force, as a candidate for the post of chancellor the day before. Commenting on the AFD's future energy policy, Weidel called for "putting an end to the construction of windmills" and restoring Nord Stream.
