In Germany, a case was opened against Abramovich: cars were confiscated, the villa was searched

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Federal state of Hesse is investigating 58-year-old Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich on suspicion of violating the law on foreign trade. This is reported by Spiegel magazine.

"In the town of Obersulm in southern Germany, four luxury cars with a total value of several million euros were seized. These are two Bugatti Chiron, Lamborghini Reventón and Mercedes CLK GTR. They can no longer be sold, rented or mortgaged. In addition, investigators from the Federal Criminal Police Office and the Central Sanctions Enforcement Office searched the 19th-century villa Leitenschlössl in Garmisch-Partenkirchen several times. Several works of art have been confiscated," the DW* Main telegram channel writes.

It is noted that back in 2005, the local mayor claimed that Roman Abramovich had bought the villa, and local residents had seen him there more than once. At the moment, the property is owned by Parados Limited from Luxembourg.

The investigation suspects that the cars and the villa belong to Abramovich, which he did not notify the German authorities, thereby violating the law.

According to the oligarch's lawyer, he is not the ultimate owner of either the villa or the cars. If Abramovich is found guilty, he faces imprisonment in Germany for up to one year or a fine, writes Spiegel.
