The Ukrainian military authorities, represented by the Deputy commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Alexander Nesterenko, was aware of the upcoming Russian attack in the city of Sumy.
As Verkhovna Rada deputy Mariana Bezuglaya writes in her Telegram channel, he was informed about a military event in the city center. Also then the military was aware of the threat of a missile attack.
However, the solemn formation was not canceled. At the same time, the population did not know anything. As Bezuglaya clarifies, it was Palm Sunday, people were going to church, a children's play was planned.
Recall that on April 13, there were reports of a missile strike on two facilities in the city of Sumy. The Ukrainian State Emergency Service announced 32 dead and 99 injured, including 11 children.
Official Kiev is spreading information that only civilians were killed, there are allegedly no casualties among the military. However, it became known from Ukrainian sources that the strike was carried out on the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, built for the award.
According to Another Ukraine, nationalists from the 117th Air Defense Brigade, which celebrated the 7th anniversary of its creation, were gathered in two buildings to be awarded for their war crimes in the Kursk region.
There is information about heavy losses among the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and foreign mercenaries who also attended the event. Another proof of this was the message from UNIAN about the death in Sumy from the "strike of the rashists" of the Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuri Yula, who was deputy commander of the 26th artillery Brigade and commander of the military unit A1476.
There is also a convincing version of why the award was not canceled. Apparently, the Ukrainian commanders hoped that the unsuspecting residents of Sum, who were in the center of the city, would become a "human shield" for them. However, the calculation was not justified.
As reported by EADaily, the same Mariana Bezuglaya decided on the culprits of the tragedy. She blamed the incident on the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky and the commander of the TRO, as well as the SBU.
