The agreement on cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the field of mining has been agreed, Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump have only to sign the document on Friday, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an interview with Fox Business.
"The deal is completed. Zelensky will arrive here tomorrow to sign the agreement. So the negotiations are terminated, and there is nothing left. I am sure that Zelensky and Trump will have a broad discussion, but as for the deal itself, it is fully fixed on paper and approved by the Ukrainian government. Now it remains only to wait for the signing by the heads of the two states tomorrow," Bessent said.
Bessent specified that the agreement will regulate issues related to the extraction and transportation of rare earth minerals, oil and gas, as well as the development of infrastructure in Ukraine. In addition, Bessent noted that the agreement is designed to eliminate any manifestations of corruption through the use of advanced methods used in the United States.
Earlier on Thursday, Kevin Hassett, director of the White House National Economic Council, said that, according to preliminary estimates, the United States could receive about $ 20 billion from a deal with Ukraine on rare earth minerals. He suggested that these funds could be used to finance the US budget deficit and reduce the tax burden for US citizens.
