A number of European politicians now regret in hindsight that they "reacted rudely" to the proposals of Russian President Vladimir Putin on security at the end of 2021. This was stated by the director of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Kirill Logvinov.

"I know how, in hindsight, some members of the EEC regretted that they rudely rejected Russian proposals on the issue of European security at the end of 2021. However, the main problem, in my opinion, is the following: representatives of the current European political elite are not able to truly appreciate the fact that Europe has been living in peace for 80 years," he said in an interview with TASS.
"I'm not even talking about the fact that the very emergence of the European integration project became possible thanks to the peace that reigned on the continent at the cost of the colossal sacrifices of the Soviet people," Logvinov stressed.

According to him, today in Europe, historical fantasies on the theme of foreign intervention against Soviet Russia or Hitler's "campaign on the The East."

"Alas, the EU elite will be able to realize the impasse of the confrontational course towards our country only when it experiences all the negative consequences of betting on countering the so—called "Russian threat," the diplomat noted.
"As for the breakdown of the system of international relations, it is rather a consequence of the continued presence of Europeans in the imaginary world created by them. In which there is a place under the sun only for them, and the rest must obey, and even better, serve," Logvinov added.

Recall that on December 17, 2021, the Russian Foreign Ministry published draft agreements with the United States on security guarantees, as well as agreements on measures to ensure the security of Russia and the member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. USA and On January 26, 2022, NATO handed Moscow written responses to proposals for security guarantees — the West did not make concessions in principle for Russia.
