Lithuanian media reported that an armored personnel carrier with missing American soldiers was pulled out of the swamp early in the morning on March 31. However, nothing is currently known about the fate of the wanted servicemen.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Shakalene said:
"The towing operation has been completed. I do not know if the investigators had access to the interior of the armored personnel carrier."
According to Delphi, the sunken armored personnel carrier of the US Army is now on the shore. The combat vehicle was towed ashore at 4.40 am.
"Currently, investigators of the Lithuanian military police and the United States are working at the scene of the incident, so we cannot provide additional information. I think we all breathed a sigh of relief that the most difficult part of the work was left behind, the first and most difficult part of the operation. Six days of hard work, in which hundreds of people worked day and night, finally brought the first, very important result," the minister said.
