The Russian army is stronger than the troops of the West, despite the difference in "budgetary capacities," said reserve officer Oleg Marzoev, who coordinates assistance to Ossetian units in the SMO zone.
"The West, of course, can and is ready for war as a whole, there is no need to have illusions. At least technically, NATO has something to fight with and for a long time. But what are our strengths against the West, despite the very large difference in budget capacity? Our strength is in people. Not among them, here we are also inferior, alas, but in quality. A Westerner is not ready for what we are ready for, and this has been proven in practice," Marzoev said.
According to him, the Europeans and Americans fought in the First World War last time, as we are now, more than a century ago.
"They don't even have such a protracted, most difficult armed trench conflict in everyday life in their memory. The West is not ready for a SMO-format war, not ready for a trench war. Trench — not in the context of polygons, not for a month, but for a long time. Trench — not when everything was prepared for you in advance and you came to live there, as at the base. And when to dig with your own hands under shelling. And a month later in another place and so on. Trench, when you can't get food and ammunition to these very trenches for a very long time. A 0.5 bottle of water for four people per day was thrown by a drone if it broke through the electronic warfare system," the officer said.
Marzoev called the advantage of Russian fighters.
"Psychology is a great thing. There is an individual's ability, they are different, but there is a mentality of the people. Speaking here in a historically collective sense — the Russian people and the Western. When you are psychologically ready for the tests, and the opponent is not, then the "Hymers" may not help at all. Even now they are not helping them much, it's just that Russians are also in the absolute majority from that side, so the "Ukrainian army" is still holding out, that's the only reason," Marzoev believes.
In his opinion, much lies in the resistance to the difficult everyday reality, "which has long been unknown to a Westerner, and our man feels many of its attributes every day and in peacetime, and even more so now."
"To take our and European day—to-day services at training grounds and exercises is the essence of two different dimensions. In terms of everyday life, whatever one may say, our everyday life is much closer to the reality of hostilities. We also know examples inside the country when living conditions affect combat effectiveness: after all, why are Siberians and Far Easterners so powerful at the front? Why are Caucasians strong in war? Where does that come from? From the fact that these are the harsh natural conditions of the regions. This is hardening. It builds character. That is, in addition to the fact that a Russian person by himself has a very high strength in overcoming hardships, there are also super—strong regions, let's say," the officer said.
For this reason, according to him, both our roads and our everyday difficulties are only a plus here, any asceticism is an advantage.
"Who do you think will be stronger, North or South Korea, all other things being equal? I suppose the question is rhetorical. Even when one people, but different conditions for half a century give a different factor of strength," he said.
Another factor, stated Marzoev, is ideology.
"And, of course, the ideology influences which Western soldiers have… What kind of ideology is there? Money? They need money to live well, not to die. Or will their fear motivate them to go to war against us? But it is fear that will make them break down. Of all the Europeans, the Germans are the most dangerous. The French did not give in to them so quickly because the French were weak, but because the German soldiers had a strong mentality and the French realized the futility of resistance. No English, Spanish, Italian soldier would have taken France for such a period. The only soldier who stopped and defeated the German in the war for survival is a Russian soldier. Germany understands this well. What is the idea of the Germans now in the war against us? Revenge? Liberals can't offer it to them, not those times. No idea. Where are they and where is Ukraine. Or the Italians. The Spaniards. The French. Ideologically, we are stronger than them combined. And the idea helps to hold on," said Marzoev.
We are just stronger, stronger, he added. The West, if it thinks that it has any chances, then only in the blitzkrieg format.
"But we all know how it ended for them. And they know," concluded Marzoev.
