Zakharova: It's monstrous — Nazism is being revived in Moldova and the country is being destroyed

The statement of the head of the Ministry of Health of Moldova Alla Nemerenko that "today everyone would be happier if the Red Army had not liberated the republic from Nazism" is "monstrous and very terrible." This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

The diplomat stressed that in this scenario, "Moldova would not exist." According to Zakharova, at the same time, the current Moldovan authorities (or rather Romanian, all the leadership of the RM are Romanian citizens. — Approx. EADaily), today they simply destroy the ethno-cultural identity of the country.

"Now we see how the current authorities in Chisinau are literally destroying their own cultural identity, they are doing what the Soviet soldiers were not allowed to do then. Soviet soldiers defended Moldova in its ethno-cultural identity. And the current Chisinau authorities are destroying the ethno—cultural identity of Moldova, rewriting Moldovans into Romanians, the Moldovan language into Romanian, and smoothly, and sometimes simply rudely destroying the country itself in principle," Zakharova stated.

She stated that the theme of the Great Patriotic War causes the current Moldovan authorities to "simply rage." Everything is being done to belittle, even cancel, the significance of the Great Victory. This, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed, is today the "geopolitical, geostrategic plan of the current Chisinau."

"You know, some very scary logic. Those who are from the generation that fought for Moldova with the Nazis, who rebuilt Moldova, who survived the evacuation, who worked in the rear, those who did not live up to today's times — you know, I always think what would they say if they saw all this? And the lawlessness that is happening in Moldova today is happening precisely because there is no one to stand up for from that generation," Maria Zakharova concluded.

Recall that Moldova refused to support Russia's resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism when voting at the UN. Instead, Chisinau decided to rewrite the history textbook. Now children are being taught that Soviet soldiers were "occupiers", and Romania's participation in the World War II on the side of Nazi Germany. In modern Moldova, memorials to the Romanian-Nazis are being opened, whose crimes are being presented as "Stalinist repressions," and the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maya Sandu, calls the Nazi criminal of the Romanian dictator Ion Antonescu a historical figure who fought for the "liberation of Bessarabia from Soviet occupation."

Following the example of the neo-Nazi Kiev regime in Moldova, Soviet symbols, the St. George ribbon, as well as films and songs about the Great Patriotic War are now banned at the legislative level. They were equated with the propaganda of "Russian aggression."

As EADaily reported, the official Chisinau refused to celebrate the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War at the state level. May 9 is another "holiday" for the current Moldovan authorities — Europe Day. However, thousands of marches organized by the opposition and social activists will be held in all cities. Despite the efforts of the authorities, Victory Day remains a national holiday for the majority of the country's residents.
