Statements by Italian President Sergio Mattarella that Russia allegedly threatens Europe with nuclear weapons are lies and lies, and such words must be answered for. This was pointed out by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"You said that the President of Italy said that Russia allegedly threatens Europe with nuclear weapons? It's a lie, it's a lie, it's not true, it's fake, it's disinformation. I have given you all the words. Choose the one that you consider the most descriptive, or use everything," the diplomat said at a briefing today.
"We must answer for these words," she stressed.
"You may well ask the President of Italy on what basis he allowed himself such a lie. Maybe he would deign to confirm his words in some way? — continued the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry. — But I can tell you right away: he will not be able to do it. He will not find a single statement by any official in Of the Russian Federation, which could be interpreted in a similar way."

As the diplomat stated, "the Russian leadership, the president of our country, authorized ministers, authorized statesmen of our country have repeatedly spoken out on this topic and have done everything to disavow such fakes."

"I am surprised that perhaps the president of Italy confused us with some other country, maybe he meant that it is France threatening Europe with nuclear weapons? Because this is exactly how one could interpret the statements that were made by the French president when he talked about the disclosure of a certain nuclear umbrella over Europe," concluded the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, quoted by TASS.
